Community Champions Giving Back for Thanksgiving

Community Champions Giving Back

This Thanksgiving season, Community Champions from Powerscreen of California, Nevada, & Hawaii came together across the Dixon, Napa, and Taft locations to support families in need and strengthen the communities they call home. With generosity from staff across all three sites, boxed and canned foods, along with frozen turkeys, were donated and delivered to local organizations dedicated to supporting individuals and families facing hardship.

Supporting Dixon Families Through Compassion and Care

At the Dixon headquarters, Lesley Muniz and Genesis Burgos delivered food donations collected by the Powerscreen of CA team to Dixon Family Services, a vital one-stop resource for members of the impoverished community. The organization supports residents through employment programs, financial stability services, nutrition assistance, domestic violence support, sobriety programs, emotional wellness resources, parenting education, and a food pantry that serves hundreds of local families.

As a lifelong Dixon resident, Lesley shared how meaningful this contribution was to her personally. “Being born and raised in Dixon, Dixon Family Services has been an integral part of our community to help those less fortunate, and I am glad that we were able to support their cause and help at a time that is difficult for many.”

Giving Back to Their Hometown of Suisun City

From the Napa office, Community Champions Jordan Fontaine and Brenda Rivera delivered 20 frozen turkeys to the Salvation Army, Kroc Center of Suisun City. The Kroc Center, one of only 26 nationwide, was established by Joan Kroc, wife of McDonald’s founder Ray Kroc, as a place where children and families could find connection, opportunity, and hope. Today, it stands as a vibrant community center, gym, Church, and safe space where trained professionals empower youth through social development, arts, athletics, and supportive programs. Both Jordan and Brenda grew up in Suisun City, making this donation especially meaningful.

Jordan shared, “It was moving to be able to give back to the hurting families in Solano County, and although one turkey may be a small drop in the bucket for some people, it is important to recognize not everyone has the privilege of enjoying a full Thanksgiving meal, let alone a turkey, the symbol of Thanksgiving.”

Brenda reflected on the personal significance of returning to the center she used to visit as a child. “It felt great to support those in the community I grew up in. I remember going to the Kroc Center as a kid and all the wonderful things they do for people in the community, so I was thrilled to be able to visit the center again and reminisce while giving back to the members of the center.”

Delivering Hope and Nourishment in the Central Valley

From the Taft Service Center, Daniel Camarillo III delivered donated goods from their local food drive to the New Hope Church food pantry in Taft, CA. The pantry’s mission is simple yet profound, to ensure no family in the Central Valley goes without food. Every day the pantry is open, a blessing is spoken over the food as a reminder that the community is nurtured both physically and spiritually. Daniel shared how powerful the experience was for him.

“It meant a lot to see how many lives actually benefitted from this food pantry, and I’m so honored that we were able to play a part in this organization’s mission to care for the people in our community who are struggling financially”.
