It has been 40 years since Paul Campbell started his Powerscreen dealership in Napa, having officially emigrated from Northern Ireland to Northern California in 1985. Previously working as a salesman for the Powerscreen factory, this was a massive leap for the entrepreneur. Today, this jump has turned into a lasting legacy on his business’ team, community and region.
This impact was emphasized at the 40th anniversary event, where the 100-strong Powerscreen of California team gathered together to share their memories over lunch. While the equipment, facilities and territories may have changed, the culture and people have stayed consistent. Which is why 15 of the colleagues who attended the event have been working in the business for more than a decade.
Starting out supplying only Powerscreen screeners, crushers were bought into the range as part of a merger with Terex in 2009. Ecotec and Terex Washing Systems were added in 2012, then CBI in 2015 and EvoQuip in 2016. The most recent additions include Kobelco excavators (2023), Bell Trucks (2024), Hyundai wheel loaders and excavators (2024) and MAGNA crushers and screeners (2025).
This has allowed the business to adapt to the changing needs of the local industry and customers. Similarly, the expansion from one to six locations across California, Nevada, and Arizona hasn’t just been a marker of the business’s growth, but has allowed it to shape the face of West Coast industries.
Alongside long-standing relationships with a range of customers, the business has played a key role in some of the region’s biggest infrastructure, construction, and environmental projects. This includes the development of the Giants’ stadium and Apple headquarters, alongside the reconstruction of the Oroville Dam.
The impact made by the company only grew with the acquisition by Molson Group in 2022. Sharing the same values and customer-first focus, this opened up new investment and growth opportunities while keeping what made the business successful intact.
This will only continue as the business looks forward to the next 40 years. With sustainability and electrification appearing on the horizon, the company will continue to invest in supporting infrastructure and helping customers expand their capabilities, including advanced aggregate processing technologies.
Paul Campbell, Ambassador to Powerscreen of California, said, “Any success we’ve had is because of the people around us, the customers who trusted us, the employees who dedicated their careers to the company, and the partners who helped us grow. With their talent and support, we’ll continue to succeed and make a positive impact on our local industry and communities.”
Gary McConn, President of Powerscreen of California, who joined the business in 1997, added, “It’s been a privilege to watch the company grow. It’s the strength of our culture and the leadership we had from Paul that has helped drive our success.”
