Torres Trucking, co-founded by Henry Torres, has steadily made a name for itself in the construction and material hauling industry. Located in Southern California, the company specializes in hauling bulk materials such as concrete, sand, and gravel to and from job sites throughout the region. What began primarily as a hauling operation has since grown into a more comprehensive materials business, with Torres Trucking expanding its capabilities to process and recycle material into high-quality road base and screened decomposed granite.
Supporting this expansion is the company’s investment in equipment from Powerscreen of California, Nevada & Hawaii, including a Powerscreen Trakpactor 320SR impact crusher, Powerscreen Warrior 600 screener, and Hyundai HL940A wheel loader. Together, these machines allow Torres Trucking to crush material, screen and separate it into usable products, and efficiently load and move material around the site, giving the company the ability to handle more of the recycling process in-house rather than simply hauling material from one location to another.
Expanding Beyond Hauling
This strategic move was made possible thanks to their partnership with the team at Powerscreen of California, Nevada, & Hawaii. Since beginning crushing and screening operations, Torres Trucking has made quite the investment in strong machines, including the Powerscreen Trakpactor 320SR impact crusher, the Powerscreen Warrior 600 scalping screen, and the Hyundai HL940A wheel loader. This high-performance trio has given Torres Trucking the tools to process and refine concrete into valuable and reusable construction material, reducing waste while opening new revenue streams.
“We purchased Powerscreen for the incredible reliability, their great service, and the high quality that these machines produce,” said Henry Torres, highlighting his confidence in the Powerscreen brand and team.
Turning Waste into Value
Torres Trucking is currently taking in 2” x 2” minus concrete and processing it down to a usable 3⁄4” road base using their Trakpactor 320SR. The machine’s high throughput capabilities, consistent product quality, and thoughtful engineering have made it a standout in their operation. “With the Trakpactor 320SR, we can achieve up to 352 US tons per hour,” Henry explained. “It’s been a game changer for our crushing operation.”
The Trakpactor 320SR is a mid-sized impact crusher that has been redesigned with key enhancements to improve material reduction and product consistency. It features a screen and recirculating (SR) conveyor that returns oversized material to the crusher for further reduction, maximizing output and minimizing waste. The plant also boasts a quick- detach post-screen section, converting it easily into a standard Trakpactor 320 when needed. One of the standout features is the recirculating conveyor, which lifts during transport to provide added ground clearance, making on-site maneuvering and machine loading simpler and safer.
Henry praised the ease of use and maintenance of the machine, stating, “My favorite feature on the 320SR is how low maintenance it is. It’s also easy to get underneath and clean out the belts, which makes a huge difference in daily operation.”
To move material efficiently around the site, Torres Trucking relies on the Hyundai HL940A wheel loader. Equipped with a Cummins B6.7 engine, this machine delivers 156 horsepower at 2,200 rpm and has an operating weight of 29,540 lbs. paired with a standard 3.01 cubic yard bucket. Speed is another strong point, with the HL940A reaching up to 25 mph forward and 16.2 mph in reverse. “The onboard scale on the HL940A is one of the most helpful features for us,” said Henry. “It allows our team to quickly and accurately load specific tonnage based on each customer’s requirements, which is critical for efficient operations.”
Another integral piece of the operation is the Powerscreen Warrior 600 scalping screen, which allows Torres Trucking to further refine material and ensure top-tier product quality. Despite its compact size, the Warrior 600 delivers big performance, capable of handling up to 308 US tph. The 2-deck screen is versatile enough to accommodate a wide range of screening applications—something Torres Trucking takes full advantage of in their multi- material crushing and screening work.
“The Warrior 600 gives us the flexibility we need to meet a wide range of customer specifications,” said Henry. “It’s easy to set up and operate, and the results speak for themselves in the quality of the product we’re producing.”
Partnership That Delivers Results
Behind the machines is a support team that Torres Trucking has come to rely on. “I’ve never had any complaints,” Henry shared. “Whenever we needed parts or had any service issues, the Powerscreen of California team helped us out right away. They’re the best at what they do, and they are constantly trying to help our business be more successful.”
With their expanded operation and advanced equipment, Torres Trucking is poised for continued growth in the recycling and material processing space. The ability to turn raw or waste material into a sellable product not only strengthens their bottom line but also supports environmental sustainability, something Henry and his team are proud to contribute to.
As they continue to scale their business, Henry knows exactly who to turn to for future equipment needs. “The team at Powerscreen of California is the best. I know who to call when I am in need.”
Torres Trucking’s investment in high-performance crushing and screening equipment is not only a testament to their vision for the future but also an example of how the right tools, combined with strong service and support, can empower a business to thrive in a competitive market.
